For the third consecutive year Suzuki Vitara received the 2003 AMES (Automotive Market Environmental Sensitivity) Award, which recognizes the most environmentally sensitive vehicles. The annual competition relies on certified information provided by the manufacturers to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for vehicle emissions and fuel economy. The Vitara is one of only 16 automotive models to win an AMES Awards for three or more consecutive years, and Suzuki is the only specialty manufacturer to receive the award in each of the four years of the AMES Award competition.
